The Illinois Office of Tourism is back in the Quad Cities Thursday. They are releasing 2012 tourism numbers for Rock Island County alone.
Monday, the tourism office released huge numbers for the entire state. The Quad City Convention and Visitor's Bureau is hoping to keep that same type of momentum for Rock Island County.
Monday, the state's tourism workers said Illinois hosted 100 million U.S. visitors in 2012. It is the largest number of U.S. visitors that the state has ever had. That was a six percent increase from the number in 2011.
The increase generated $30 billion for the Illinois economy. State tax revenue also rose five percent to $1.5 billion in 2012.
Monday's announcement is at 9:30 a.m. at the John Deere Pavilion in Moline. Scott County's 2012 results have not been released. The Quad City Metro Area results will be released once the two counties are combined.
