Police identify body found in Rock River

The body of a man who vanished in the Rock River in late June was found July 5.

According to the Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office, the body was found Friday, July 5, 2013 shortly after 3:30 p.m. between Erie and Hillsdale.

The body was recovered and turned over to the Whiteside County Coroner, and police later confirmed the body was that of 30-year-old Javier Tiscareno of Brookfield, Illinois.

Tiscareno was swimming in the river near Prophetstown State Park on Sunday, June 23, 2013 when he lost his footing and went under the water between 4:30 and 5 p.m.

Friends and witnesses at the scene said they did not see Tiscareno surface after he went under.
