DAVENPORT, Iowa - The friendly Thrift Center in Davenport is a place in the community can get clothing and household goods a very low prices…. sometimes even for free.
One volunteer helps to keep the center up and going. Her effort impacts countless people and several local organizations.
For all that she does a fellow volunteer wanted to Pay It Forward.
Jackie Rouse can’t say enough about her friend and follow volunteer “its pretty much a full time job she is here all of the time. Come here you wonderful person you. You totally deserve this we are paying it forward from Ascentra credit union because you do such a great job for the community giving of your time. God has truly blessed us.” “It is a fabulous surprise thank you so much.”
Thiara Smith manages the Friendly Thrift Center “we have such a fabulous mission here.
I just love being here.” She does it all from helping clients to sorting donations “see what little treasures, its like Christmas everyday. Look at that some beautiful lamp fixtures.”
Smith is quick to share the credit “I could not do it with out all of the help i get here this is such a fabulous crew here.”
And also quick to Pay It Forward even further. Putting her 300 dollars right into the box, donating it back to the organization.
Quickly getting back to her mission of helping others at the Friendly Thrift Center on Brady Street “we are able to help so man people that are truly in need.”
The Friendly Thrift Center is open 9:00am to 1:00pm Monday through Saturday and is always looking for donations.
It is completely run with volunteers so all of the money generated goes back to the community.
