They’ve served our country and now Congressman Dave Loebsack is asking area veterans how he can better serve them.

Representative Loebsack, who represents Iowa’s Second Congressional District, held veterans roundtables in Davenport and Clinton on Wednesday, July 3.  The roundtables were held to give veterans and their families a chance to share any issues they’ve been having with the Veterans Administration or any other federal agency.

“I think it’s really important that I talk to veterans as much as I possibly can to hear what they have to say about the V.A., about their experiences, about their likes and dislikes, some of the concerns they might have about the kinds of service that they’re getting,” said Congressman Loebsack.

Some of the biggest issues addressed at the roundtable were the caseloads at Veterans Affairs and how long it takes to have claims processed.

“A lot of us have done enough hurrying up and waiting. When we need help, we need help now. Not six days from now, not a year from now, we need help at that moment,” said Adam Bailey, an Afghanistan Veteran.

Loebsack will hold roundtables in Oskaloosa, Ottumwa, Albia, Knoxville and Newton later this week.
