Illinois Governor Pat Quinn will be back in the Quad Cities Monday. The Governor will speak at the Holiday Inn in Rock Island.
The state does not have $100 billion it needs to pay public workers for their pensions. As previously reported, lawmakers came to Springfield for a one day special session on June 19th. Lawmakers are coming together to form a conference committee where they'll look at two separate bills. The state spends $5 million a day every day it does nothing on pension reform. Previous estimates showed the state wasted $17 million a day. State House Rep. Mike Smiddy says the one day special session was basically a waste.
"We went down there, and we wasted thousands of dollars of taxpayer money to go sit in a room for hours and do nothing," Smiddy said June 20th.
Illinois Governor Pat Quinn will speak at the Holiday Inn at 1:30 p.m. Monday. The event is open to the public, and lunch will be served. Lunch costs $20 a person.
The Governor will then head to the Rock Island Arsenal after the meeting. He'll be there at 4:30 p.m.
