A Rock Island native is moving up the ranks as she plays at Wimbledon for the first time.

Professional tennis player, 18-year-old Madison Keys won her second round at Wimbledon on Thursday, June 27, 2013. Her victory was over 30th seed, Mona Barthel from Germany; 6-4 in the first set and 6-2 in the second.

Barthel is ranked 33rd in the world, Keys is ranked 52nd.

This is the farthest Keys has ever advanced in a grand slam tournament, previously advancing to the third round in the Australian Open earlier in 2013.
