A Davenport woman is charged with child endangerment after she allegedly left three children home alone for at least a half-hour.

The Quad City Times reports police were called when someone complained of Heather Young, 23, being in an alley in the 800 block of West 15th Street at about 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 26, 2013.

Police reportedly found Young returning to her home about a half-hour later.  Police said Young smelled of alcohol and that her eyes were bloodshot and watery, her speech was slurred and that she was unsteady on her feet.

Young allegedly admitted to police she was supposed to be caring for three children who were inside her home.  The children are ages four, three and seven months old.

Young was arrested and charged with three misdemeanor counts of child endangerment with no injury.  She spent just over eight hours in the Scott County Jail before she was released on her own recognizance in lieu of $2,000 bond.

Court records show Young was appointed a public defender, and that her next court appearance was set for June 28.
