Des Moines Police and a dog owner were reportedly involved in a standoff after the man’s dog allegedly bit a little girl.

WHO reports an animal control officer were sent to seize the dog at an address in the 6200 block of South Union on Tuesday, June 25, 2013.

When the officer approached the house, he was confronted by 35-year-old Brian Case who was armed with a machete.  Case allegedly chased the officer away and then locked himself inside the house.

After about an hour of refusing to talk to them, Case surrendered peacefully to police when his mother and girlfriend arrived with keys to the house.

WHO reports Case faces charges of going armed with intent, dog at large and no city license.

Animal control officers did eventually remove the dog from the house.
