Davenport crews plan to close River Drive between Brady and Third streets at 7 a.m. Wednesday, June 26, 2013 in anticipation of flooding in the area.

Crews began installing the flood protection barrier at Modern Woodmen Park Tuesday, June 25.  An elevated walkway will also be built there, since water levels are forecast to reach 19.1 feet there by Sunday and flood stage is 15 feet.

Backup pumps will be placed in the Garden Addition Wednesday, also.

When crews close River Drive, businesses will remain accessible.

Westbound River Drive traffic will detour at Fourth Street, traveling  west on Fourth to Harrison and south on Harrison and back to River Drive.   Westbound trucks will also detour on Fourth to Iowa Street, where they should go north to Fifth Street and west on Fifth Street to Western Avenue where they can travel south and return to River Drive.

Eastbound traffic will detour at Brady Street, traveling north to Third Street and east on Third Street back to River Drive.
