Search and rescue crews were expected to return to the Rock River at Prophetstown, Illinois to search for a man who reportedly fell into the water.

Police said 30-year-old Javier Tiscareno of Brookfield, Illinois was swimming in the river near Prophetstown State Park when he lost his footing and went under the water.

Friends and witnesses at the scene said they did not see Tiscareno surface after he went under.

According to witnesses who talked to WQAD, a man was at the campsite in the park with friends. They say the group was jumping in and out of the river all day, but between 4:30pm and 5:00pm on Sunday, June 23rd, 2013, the man jumped in and the current took him under water.

Police searched the river into the nighttime hours before the search was halted.

A spokesman for the Whiteside County Sheriff's Office said the search had resumed Monday morning, June 24, 2013.
