UPDATE: Arrest Made in Davenport Deadly Shooting

A female victim was found dead after officers received a 911 call referencing that she had been shot, officials say.

UPDATE: The female victim has been identified as 25-year-old Amanda Abbott of Davenport, according to Davenport Police.

Officials say the suspect in the homicide is 22-year-old “AJ” Albert Coats of Davenport. Davenport Detectives, with the help of the Milan and Rock Island Police Departments as well as the Rock Island County Sheriff’s Department, found Coats in a trailer in the Highcliffs Estates Trailer Park in Milan, Illinois on Saturday, June 22nd, 2013.

Police say Coats was “taken into custody after first refusing to come out for a short period of time.” He is now in the Rock Island County Jail, charged with Second Degree Murder, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, and Theft 3rd Possession of Stolen Property. Officials say he’ll eventually be moved over to the Scott County Jail.

Officials say the weapon involved in the homicide has been located and placed in evidence.

According to Davenport Police, the call came in after 1 a.m. Saturday, June 22, 2013.

Police say they are conducting an investigation into the matter. The name of the victim is not being released at this time.
