An annual show has taken flight in the Quad Cities.

The 27th Annual Quad City Air Show kicked-off on Saturday, June 22 at the Davenport Airport.

The 2013 theme was An Aerial Salute to the Greatest Generation, honoring WWII veterans.

Pilots demonstrated stunts for over a dozen people to gaze at as they stood below.

The air show’s Director of Flight Operations, Dick McGarry said his job is to supervise and organize crews to maintain the air crafts and assist with anything they may need.

McGarry said working at the show is a good time and is a great way to give back to the community.

“Let’s face it, if it wasn’t fun we wouldn’t be doing it,” said McGarry. “We get a lot of the aircraft, we get to know the people, and we get to interact with them.”

The air show wraps up on Sunday, June 23.

McGarry said volunteers are welcome to apply to work at future shows. Click here for the QC Air Show’s volunteer website.
