Superintendent Art Tate is proposing a very flexible school boundary clause for next year.
The school district could allow elementary and intermediate kids, who were supposed to change schools next year, to stay at their old school. Tate is also proposing that kindergarteners this upcoming year be able to go to their old school if their parents want them to.
Siblings of kids who are supposed to be in a new boundary next year would be able to go to their old school too. Tate is proposing this because the boundary process has taken so long to carry out.
"We can't suddenly go, 'here's where you're going, but that was a week ago, well now, guess what? Now your school boundary is going to change.' It'd be disruptive to the schools as well as the families."
These are only proposed boundary clauses at this point. The board still has to approve them at its meeting on Monday. That meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. at the Achievement Service Center.
