Construction on US 6 east of Coal Valley will bring traffic down to one lane.

Weather permitting, Monday, June 17, 2013 McCarthy Improvement Company will be repairing and resurfacing US-6 from the Niabi Zoo Road east of Coal Valley, to Illinois Route 84 south of Colona, according to the Illinois Department of Transportation.

Traffic will be down to one lane and controlled by flaggers. Drivers should be prepared to stop for the flaggers directing traffic and should be alert for slow moving vehicles.

The project will cost $1.5 million and improvements will be made to a 4.4-mile section of the road.

It is expected that the project will be complete by mid-September.
