Kids can now play on the brand new playground at Veteran’s Memorial Park in Bettendorf.
The new playground opened Thursday, June 13, 2013.
City officials decided to replace the nearly-20-year-old playground at the park, at 1645 23rd Street, after repeat flooding from nearby Duck Creek.
The new playground is about two feet higher than the former facility, and it has a rubberized surface to help protect kids playing on the equipment.
Bettendorf Parks and Recreation Director Steve Grimes said the playground is a welcome addition for people who attend events like the Tot Lot, Summer Playground Series and movies in the park.
The new playground cost more than $200,000 to build.
