Second fatality reported in wreck near Colona

The motorcycle driver involved in a crash in Colona, Illinois was pronounced dead at the scene by the Henry County Coroner.

A second person has died after a motorcycle crash near Colona on Friday.

According to police, a 10-year-old who was a passenger on the motorcycle died at Peoria Hospital. His father, Scott Teerlink, died at the scene.

The motorcycle driver involved in a crash in Colona, Illinois was pronounced dead at the scene by the Henry County Coroner. The passenger was flown to Peoria Hospital in critical condition.

A Harley Davidson was traveling west on Highway 6 and the Buick was traveling east, according to the Illinois State Police. As the motorcycle passed through the intersection, the Buick turned from westbound Highway 6 North onto Illinois Route 84 directly in front of the motorcycle, said the police.

The crash is being reconstructed by the Illinois State Police and is under investigation.

Initial reports indicated one person perished in a crash at the intersection of Illinois Route 84 and Highway 6 just south of Colona, Illinois.

Police and firefighters from Colona and Illinois State Police were sent to the crash scene just after 2 p.m. Friday, June 14, 2013.

The crash appeared to involve a motorcycle and a passenger car.

Motorists were not permitted to travel east of Route 84 on Highway 6 while investigators worked the crash scene.  Traffic was re-routed to Colona via Route 84.
