Carroll County, Illinois authorities said they received many 911 calls reporting funnel clouds on the ground Wednesday evening.

The National Weather Service issued a tornado warning for Carroll County after storms moved there from Jo Daviess County to the north.

News 8 viewer Bill Meyer shared photos of what appears to be a funnel cloud, which he said were taken as the storms struck just south of Massbach, Illinois in Jo Daviess County (check out those photos in the gallery below).

Carroll County Sheriff C.J. Doran said they received several reports of funnel clouds touching the ground just as storms passed through the Savanna area just before 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 12, 2013.

“The damage reported as of now is three structure buildings in rural Savanna with one injury resulting from one of the structure damages,” Doran said.

The injured person was taken by ambulance to an area hospital.  The nature and severity of that person’s injuries were not released.

More than 2,400 Jo-Carroll Energy members lost power during the storms after a tree struck a power line.  A statement from the utility said most customers had power restored just after 10 p.m., and that crews completed restoring power to all customers by 6 a.m. Thursday, June 13.  Sand Prairie Wireless Internet service was also affected in some areas.

A storm survey team from the National Weather Service will survey damage Thursday in parts of Jo Daviess and Carroll counties.

Highway Department and other crews worked throughout the night to clean up debris on roadways.

Several tornado warnings were issued throughout the late-afternoon and evening hours Wednesday in Dubuque, Jackson, Jo Daviess, Carroll and Whiteside counties in our area.
