Authorities said one person was injured after storm spotters and law enforcement confirmed tornado sightings in northwest Carroll County, Illinois.

Storms capable of producing tornadoes pushed through Dubuque, Jackson, Jo Daviess, Carroll and Whiteside counties in our area late Wednesday afternoon and into Wednesday evening.

Tornado warnings were issued as the storms moved through between 6 and 8 p.m.  Savanna and Milledgeville were among communities that appeared to be in the direct path of the storms.  A tornado was also spotted just south of Hanover.

Authorities in Carroll County confirmed they received a report of one person hurt and property damaged in the 10300 block of Zion Road near Savanna, Illinois. A home there was destroyed in Wednesday evening’s storms. The top stories were completely blown away, revealing the house’s basement and foundation.

Property damage was also reported in the area of Messmer and Law roads.
