Thousands of dollars available for Moline businesses

The city of Moline is looking to start its Facade Improvement Program for 2013-2014.

The city of Moline is looking to start its Facade Improvement Program for 2013-2014.

The city of Moline will do a second reading on the resolution at a council meeting Tuesday. City leaders are specifically looking to help out parts of town that were built before 1970.

City council documents show that the city is looking to improve the facades on buildings in Old Towne, Uptown, Riverside, and downtown. In the Traditional Commercial Areas Rejuvenation Program, businesses would receive loans for 1/3rd of their project cost or $7,500.

Downtown businesses have used the loan before to get new windows, lighting, and awnings. Tuesday's City Council meeting starts at 6:30 at Moline's City Hall.

To see whether your business qualifies for a loan, contact the city of Moline's Main Street Program at 309-524-2054. Tenants of buildings can also apply for the loans with their owner's authorization.
