Police say they seized sword and knives from Iowa man at gas station

Police say they arrested an Iowa City man after he was reportedly scaring customers outside a gas station in Tiffin, Iowa.

Deputies say they found 21-year-old Deandre Irby outside the Kum & Go at 101 Village Drive just before 11:30 p.m. Monday, June 10, 2013.  Irby was carrying a guitar and other items and he was reportedly scaring customers outside the store.

Johnson County Sheriff’s deputies said they took a “Samurai-type” sword, two throwing knives and a flask of cocaine from Irby.   

Irby faced charges of carrying weapons and possession of a controlled substance.

Online records showed Irby was held in the Johnson County, Iowa Jail.
