Rainy weather has kept people inside, but now they have something else to worry about, bugs. The cooler temperatures and standing still water has brought out more insects. People at Scott County Park are having a hard time enjoying the outdoors when they're constantly swatting away gnats, but also having to watch where they walk.
A grassy field, that was once a lake, park rangers say, is filled with ticks. The Iowa Department of Public Health says the best way to prevent tick bites is to avoid wooded or grassy areas, wear long-sleeved shirts and pants.
