A Chicago-based group gathered in Davenport, Iowa on Sunday, June 9, to prepare for a 195-mile long demonstration walk through Iowa.

The walk will begin in Rock Island, Illinois and end in Des Moines, Iowa. The demonstration is called Covering Ground to Ground the Drones.

A supporter who is part of the Voices for Creative Nonviolence, the group organizing the event, said on the walk they will make stops along the way to meet people, have gatherings, and try to expand the conversation about drones.

Maya Evans, a supporter of the anti-drone effort from the United Kingdom said she is joining in the demonstration to support the effort and let people know what’s happening abroad.

“I think it’s good to come here and to make the connections between the U.S. and the U.K. and their foreign policy in Islamic countries.”

The walk will begin after a news conference on Monday. The organization said about 20 people will join in the walk, according to a QC Times’ report.
