Rhubarb Festival in Aledo blocks some downtown parking

The 2013 Rhubarb Festival in Aledo, Illinois will close some parking in the area.

The 2013 Rhubarb Festival in Aledo, Illinois will close some parking in the area.

The Central Park parking lot will be closed to all vehicles from Thursday, June 6, until the end of the event on Saturday.

No parking signs, orange cones, and barricades will be used to designate no parking areas. Vehicles parked in “no parking areas” are subject to towing if the owner cannot be located.

The Aledo Police Department said last year they received complaints about bicycle riders and skateboarders in congested areas. Police are asking them not to ride in congested or crowded areas.

Police also ask that pet owners keep their dogs on a leash and to not allow them in the Central Park area, Court House area, or the children’s area.

The Rhubarb Fest features over 3,000 homemade pies for sale, thousands of rhubarb seeds will be given away, and rhubarbs will be available for sampling. Crafts, music, and entertainment will also be showcased in the downtown.
