Over $27 million will go toward a half-dozen construction projects to create jobs and improve infrastructure in Henry and Rock Island counties.
The Illinois Department of Transportation will manage the majority of seven projects around the state which are part of the Illinois Jobs Now! program, according to Illinois Governor Pat Quinn.
A set of bridges around I-74 and I-280 over Coal Creek west of the Henry County line will be replaced and resurfaced.
A bridge on US-6 over Shaffer Creek will be replaced. Niabi Zoo Road will be realigned east of Coal Valley.
State Street in Geneseo from US-6 to Oakwood Ave. will be reconstructed. Crews will repave, work on the curb, storm and sanitary sewer, water main, and sidewalk. Landscaping work will also be done in the area.
US-6 from Niabi Zoo Road to IL-84 will be resurfaced.
IL-92 east of I-88, to west of the Henry County line will be patched and resurfaced.
The campus parking at Black Hawk Community College in Moline will be expanded.
Parking lot and trail improvements will be made to the Rock Island Trail State Park sites.
All contracts were awarded after a competitive bidding process.
