An East Moline church collected donations to send to people in Oklahoma who were affected by the tornadoes.

First Christian Church collected canned goods and personal items for the relief effort on Thursday, June 6. All who donated were entered in a raffle to win a $50 Texas Road House gift card.

"It's something that's important to me, not only to give back to the community, but we actually know some friends who have had people down there who have lost their homes," said organizer of the event, Shelby Ledbetter. "It's just something important to me, just to give back and do what I can."

The donations were being collected in conjunction with the church’s rummage sale, which will continue on Friday, June 7 until 2 p.m.
