Starbucks bans smoking outside its stores

Smoking will be banned outside of Starbucks locations across the country beginning Saturday, June 1.

Smoking will be banned outside of Starbucks locations across the country beginning Saturday, June 1.

The ban is designed to prohibit smoking within 25 feet of doors to any Starbucks location.  They met with little resistance when they extended no-smoking zone in California and in the Philippines last year, so they’re taking it nationwide.

The ban makes the chain one of many retailers, restaurants and bars that prohibit smoking inside and outside.

The new rule changes Starbucks’ previous policy to allow smoking outside.  Instead, there will be a 25-foot smoke-free zone around the doors to Starbucks shops in the U.S., including at their outdoor tables.  E-cigarettes will also be banned near the entrance and exit doors of Starbucks locations.
