Thousands lose power during storms

More than 7,000 MidAmerican Energy customers lost electricity as storms pushed through the Quad Cities area Thursday, May 30, 2013.

Over 1,000 outages were reported on the Iowa side of the Quad Cities at 10:05 p.m., down from over 6,500 outages reported around 5:30 p.m.  Most outages were reported in Davenport.

The National Weather Service reported a trained spotter clocked 60 miles-per-hour winds in Davenport just before 5 p.m. Thursday, May 30, 2013.

Airport officials reported a 54-miles-per-hour wind gust at the Davenport Airport just after 5 p.m.

A National Weather Service employee reported 3/4-inch hail in an earlier storm just after 3:30 p.m. in Bettendorf.

More than 400 customers lost power in Rock Island and Rock Island County, Illinois during the storm on Thursday evening.
