Carl Sandburg College has closed its main campus in Galesburg due to flooding on Wednesday, May 29, 2013.

Water broke through one of the buildings on campus there. There are no reports of any injuries from the flooding.

The Fairfield Inn Hotel had standing water outside of its parking lot at 6 a.m. Wednesday. The hotel is right next to the Carl Sandburg Mall off Henderson Street. No cars got stuck in the water Wednesday morning.

Tuesday, it was a bit of a different story. Numerous cars got stuck in heavy areas of standing water. News Eight crews spotted one car stuck near the Menards and Wal-Mart stores on Seminary Street.

Galesburg city officials announced Wednesday, May 29 that all wading pools in the city would be closed until further notice.

Crews expect the cleanup process to last for the next couple of days. There is no word on how long the main campus will be closed to Carl Sandburg College, but only emergency workers are supposed to work Wednesday.
