Police say a Burlington man tried to avoid arrest after he allegedly stabbed another man in the back and abdomen.

Tyler Ripperger, 29, reportedly stabbed a 48-year-old man twice during an altercation at a home in the 1900 block of South Central Avenue at about 12:30 a.m. Saturday, May 25, 2013.  The victim was hospitalized for treatment of his injuries.

After hours of searching, Burlington Police investigators said they found Ripperger just before 8 p.m. that same date.  Ripperger was reportedly hiding in a closet at a home in the 1400 block of Division Street in Burlington.

Police said Ripperger had four outstanding warrants in Des Moines County – two for probation violation, one for violation of a no contact order and one for domestic abuse assault.  Ripperger was arrested.

Ripperger was held without bond in the Des Moines County Jail.
