Sterling Newman takes first at the Illinois Boys State Track Meet

Many athletes from Class 1A schools in the Illinois Boys State Track Meet in Charleston, Illinois on Saturday, May 25, 2013 placed at state.
Sterling Newman won the team title with 41-points, Monmouth-Roseville placed second with 31-points, and Erie-Prophetstown got third with 26-points.

Devin Johnson from Erie placed second in the Long Jump, Micheal Randall from Knoxville placed third.
Sterling Newman’s 400-meter-relay team of Brady Rude, Maison Bittner, Tyler Rockwood, and Nick Rude placed first.

Sterling Newman’s 800-meter-relay team took first with Brady Rude, Maison Bittner, Nolan McGinn, and Nick Rude. The Erie-Prophetstown team of Darius Owens, Phil Schmidgall, Dan Johnson, and Austin Mckee took third in the relay.

Second place in the 100-meter-dash went to Martel Hunter from Monmouth Roseville and Nick Rude from Sterling Newman took third.

Payton Holmes from Mercer County placed second in the 110 High Hurdles.

First place in the 400-meter went to Martell Hunter from Monmouth-Roseville.

Bryce Holesinger from Fulton took second in the 300 Hurdles.

Michael Cook from Annwan-Wethersfield took third in the 1600-meter-run.

Monmouth-Roseville’s Martel Hunter also took first in the 200-meter-dash. Jacob School from Illini West placed third.

Sterling Newman’s 1600-meter-relay team of Brady Rude, Tyler Rockwood, Alex DeForest, and Maison Bittner took third.
