UPDATE as of Friday, May 24th, 2013; 11:08pm: 1 person is arrested, 3 others are recovering in the hospital, and a baby is born after a fight broke out in a Rock Island neighborhood on Friday, May 24th, 2013.

Rock Island Police Lieutenant Dan Knittle tells News 8 that at 7:30pm, a neighbor called the police and said there was a disturbance in the 1000 block between 10th and 11th Avenue on 44th Street. Lt. Knittle says the disturbance was between four people who are related in some way and started in a house in 1010 44th Street, then spilled outside into one of the neighbor's yards.

When officers arrived on the scene, they found three people - 1 man, 2 women - who had "lacerations or cuts that would be consistent with stab wounds." The injuries were non life-threatening and the three were taken to the hospital for treatment. Police say one of the women was pregnant and the baby was delivered and is fine.

Meanwhile, the fourth person ran away, but was located a short distance away from the house, according to police. Lt. Knittle says he had some "superficial cuts" and he's not made it to jail just yet at this hour.

In addition to this incident, when police arrived on the scene, they noticed smoke coming from the house at 1010 44th Street. When firefighters responded, flames began to erupt from the back of the house. Firefighters were able to put out the fire within a half hour, but it caused significant damage to the house.

The entire series of events remains under investigation, including what caused the disturbance and what caused the fire.
