Davenport man charged in connection with pedestrian death

A Davenport, Iowa man was released after spending about three hours in jail on charges of vehicular homicide.

Dale Lee Varner, 44, was arrested and booked into the Scott County Jail Thursday evening, May 23, 2013.

Varner is charged with homicide by vehicle, involuntary manslaughter and voluntary manslaughter in connection with the September 22, 2012 death of 23-year-old Martin Eason.   Varner was reportedly traveling northbound on Waverly Road just after 4 a.m. when his car struck Eason.

Jail records show Varner was released after posting $10,000 bond.

Martin was scheduled to appear in court May 28.
