Two cars collide in intersection after failure to obey stop sign

A crash involving two vehicles in McDonough County occurred after police say one driver failed to obey a stop sign.

According to the Illinois State Police, the incident happened around 1:30 p.m. on Monday, May 20. An International Truck pulling a semi trailer was driving eastbound on 1500N and did not stop at the intersection, hitting another vehicle, a Ford F250.

Upon impact, the F250 rolled over and came to a rest in a field near the intersection. The International Truck spun and rolled over onto the driver side, coming to a rest in the field next to the other vehicle.

The driver who police say caused the accident was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from his truck. He was issued citations for disobeying a stop sign and for failure to wear a seat belt.

The men, both in their 50s were transported to McDonough District Hospital in Macomb with non-life threatening injuries.
