An Iowa animal shelter is bringing attention to animal cruelty, abuse, and neglect after one of its shelter dogs was taken and brutally killed.

In April of 2013, workers at Protectors of Animal Welfare (PAW) Pet Shelter of Fort Madison, Iowa, discovered one of its shelter dogs, “Jake” was taken from the facility, tortured, and killed nearby. The no-kill shelter does not know who took “Jake.”

PAW is offering a reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the perpetrators in the crime against the dog. Anyone with information should call the Lee County Sheriff’s office at 319-372-1152.

PAW is asking for donations to keep caring for animals brought to the shelter. PAW runs solely on donations, grants and memorials. The facility is in need of repair and better security measures. Donations are also needed for vet bills, utilities, and maintenance.
