The National Weather service confirmed 26 tornadoes touched down in the Midwest on Sunday, May 19, 2013.
More than half of the tornadoes touched down in Kansas, one that was heading toward downtown Wichita. The storm was an EF-1 with winds over 100-mph.
A news crew was broadcasting live coverage of the storm when they had to take cover. The station stayed with the coverage as they sought shelter for their own safety.
The storm lifted before it reached the heart of the city.
