Lanes will be closed on I-74 in Moline as construction work begins.

Weather permitting, the Illinois Department of Transportation said construction from 2nd Ave. to south of 7th Ave. will begin on Monday, May 20, 2013 in the evening.

All States Painting is starting a $76,000 project washing bridges along the interstate, including ramps at 3rd Ave. and 7th Ave. interchanges.

Ten bridges are scheduled to be washed and the project is expected to be complete by Friday, June 14, 2013.

The only lane closures on I-74 will be between 9 p.m. through 5 a.m. to avoid traffic delays and minimize congestion.

Drivers in this area at night are reminded to be extra alert when driving past work areas.

The contractor will be working additional hours from the parking areas and streets below the bridges to reach some sections of the structures.
