Nobody home when a house fire began in Rock Island

A fire that began on a residential Rock Island street Friday evening was extinguished, and officials found nobody in the home, according to the Rock Island Fire Department.

The Rock Island Fire Department was called to the fire in the 1000-block of 20th Street around 11:15 p.m. on Friday, May 17, 2013.

The fire department says no injuries were reported.

The Rock Island Arsenal Fire Department also assisted with the fire. The Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the fire.
