Volunteers are donating their time and services to help one community scarred by a tragic, deadly fire. It’s been a couple of months since the Sherrard fire that took the lives of four children and one woman.

12 year old Isaac Beaston spent his day playing bags. It was one of the first times he’s been able to enjoy himself over the last couple of months. Isaac personally knew all of the victims in the fire.

On Saturday, May 18,2013 a benefit was held in Milan’s HyVee’s parking lot to help the victim’s families.

"They're really going to need it once they start building their house again,” says Beaston.

A silent auction, food and plenty of entertainment was there, which all was donated.

"I think they're really generous, because they didn't have to come out here and do what they do,” says Beaston.

Even Volunteers donated their time, like Tressa Wood, who drove all the way from Des Moines, Iowa to help out.

"I think that so many people have so many talents that if they just step up and take an opportunity and run with it, it's amazing what can get accomplish,” says Wood.
