A local police department held a memorial service to honor and remember fallen officers.

The Davenport Police held the ceremony on Friday, May 17, 2013 in the community room at the police department’s building.

The ceremony was to remember four fallen officers- Bernard Geertz, William Jurgens, Emil Speth, and Michael Farnsworth. The service was followed by a procession to their grave sites. Gold Star Families were then invited to a luncheon in the community room.

“We do this every year, and we honor the fallen officers of the Davenport Police Department, as well as the officers that have been killed in the line of duty nationwide,” said Davenport Police Chief, Frank Donchez. “It’s our way of recognizing the ultimate sacrifice that they’ve given in the line of duty.”
