A three-year-old boy was hospitalized for treatment of burns after he was rescued from a burning Galesburg home.

A three-year-old boy was hospitalized for treatment of burns after he was rescued from a burning Galesburg home.

The child was reportedly trapped after fire broke out in a house in the 800 block of Oak Street just before 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 14, 2013.

The Galesburg Register-Mail reports heavy fire and smoke were visible when firefighters arrived at the home.

Everyone had reportedly escaped except the three-year-old boy, whom firefighters found near a bedroom.  The boy was handed off to a police officer through a window.

He reportedly suffered burns and was flown to a hospital in the Chicago area.

The two adults and two other children reportedly escaped unharmed.

The cause of the fire was not yet released.
