Six area students are among dozens selected to receive scholarship grants from Royal Neighbors of America.

Fifty-seven members were selected to receive grants of varying amounts, from $500 to $20,000, in 2013.

The scholarship program recognizes students for academic achievement, volunteer efforts and leadership.

Local students recognized this year include Ananya Pillutla of Bettendorf, Cody Bender of Bettendorf, Kinzie Hull of Davenport, Constance Williams of Davenport, Vanessa Redpath of Viola and Melissa Miller of Rock Island.  Their scholarships total $31,000.

Royal Neighbors has awarded more than $4 million in scholarships since the annual program began in 1961.
