ABC cancels nearly a dozen prime-time shows

ABC Television will cancel eleven prime-time shows and keep eleven others as it revamps its program lineup.

ABC Television will cancel eleven prime-time shows and keep eleven others as it revamps its program lineup.

Zap2It.com reports the network will cancel shows of various genres.

New additions to the list of shows that won’t return include “Happy Endings,” “Red Widow,” “The Family  Tools,” “Body of Proof” and “How to Live With Your Parents (for the rest of your life).”

Previously-axed shows include “Last Resort,” “Zero Hour,” “Private Practice,” “Malibu Country,” “666 Park Avenue” and “Don’t Trust the B in Apartment 23.”  Those programs were no longer on the air.

ABC renewed “Last Man Standing,” “The Neighbors,” “Nashville,” “Revenge,” “Suburgatory,” “Castle,” “The Middle,” “Once Upon A Time,” “Scandal,” “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Modern Family.”

ABC is expected to add new programs to its lineup, including a spinoff of “Once Upon A Time” called “S.H.I.E.L.D.,” based on Marvel Comics.

The network will add other dramas including “Mind Games,” which stars Steve Zahn and Christian Slater as brothers who run an agency that solves clients’ problems through psychological manipulation; “Betrayal,” about two lovers on opposite sides of a murder investigation; “Resurrection,” about residents of a Missouri town whose lives are changed when deceased loved ones return; and “Lucky 7,” about gas station employees who spend months chipping into a lottery pool at work.

New ABC comedies will include “Mixology,” about single people looking for love; “Trophy Wife;” “The Goldbergs,” which is set in the 1980s; “Back in the Game,” about a single mom who moves in with her cranky dad and “Super Fun Night.”
