Two dogs lost in DeWitt house fire

The fire on Sunday evening began shortly before 7 p.m.

Two pets were lost in a house fire in DeWitt, Iowa.

The fire on 1st Street began before 7 p.m. on Sunday, May 12.

No injuries were reported, but two dogs were killed, according to a close source of the residents of the home.

DeWitt, Grand Mound, and Walton County Fire Departments were on the scene, according to the DeWitt Fire Department.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The Red Cross is assisting one adult and two children in response to the fire. The organization said their clothing, food, and shelter needs are being met.
