As an alternative to the busy restaurants, some families chose to spend Mother’s Day among nature.
The Quad City Botanical Center held its Mother’s Day Extravaganza on Sunday, May 12.
Families were invited to the center in Rock Island to decorate a terracotta planter and plant something inside. All planters will be on display at the facility, until they are picked up by their owners at the end of the month.
“It’s usually pretty hectic at the restaurants on Mother’s Day,” said mother, Rachel Fredericksen. “This sounded like more fun.”
Kids and their moms enjoyed refreshments and snacks.
