Winners announced in K-12 photo contest

The winners of a photo contest in Whiteside County have been announced.

The winners of a photo contest in Whiteside County have been announced.

Four entries have placed in the 2013 Soil and Water Conservation District Photo Contest.

The subject of photo submissions were required to be natural landscapes, wild animals, wild birds, insects, wild fish, or their habitats. Also accepted were photos of hunting and fishing activities or conservation practices.

Molly Jacobs, from Sterling, was the overall winner in the contest, and 1st place in the 5th – 8th grade division.

Second place in the 5th – 8th grade division was Carsen Farral, from Prophetstown.

In the K-4th grade division, 1st place went to Kaleb Workman from Sterling, and Owen Farral, from Prophetstown took 2nd place.

The contest was sponsored by the Whiteside County Soil and Water Conservation District Education Foundation.
