Work is underway on an expansion of the children’s garden at the Quad City Botanical Center.

The center broke ground on the $1.2 million first phase of the expansion Friday morning, May 10, 2013.

The first phase of the expansion includes adding a river basin and delta to help teach children about plants, water and river ways.

The exhibit will be accessible and available to people of all ages.

The center hopes to continue fundraising to add more features to the Children’s Garden.
