In addition to safety reasons, kids and teens have another incentive to wear a helmet while bicycling.

The Morrison Police announced the start of their Helmet Incentive Program for bike-riders age 3-16.

The Morrison Chief of Police said anytime an officer sees a child wearing a helmet on their bike, the rider will receive a coupon for free ice cream from the Dairy Queen.

“We hope this program encourages our youth to wear their helmets and practice bicycle safety when riding,” said Chief Melton.

The incentive begins Friday, May 10, 2013 and goes through the summer months.
