Six Flags Great America held its annual media day Thursday in Gurnee, Illinois.

The theme park showcased a ride that has been out for 20 years now, but there's a new twist to the ride that has never been seen before, according to the company. Six Flags will be running the ride backwards for a "limited time" this summer.

The company has not said how long the backwards course will run, but they're showing an exclusive group of fans the ride on Thursday. The media day event started at 4 a.m.

The Six Flags website says that riders will "hang from the track in a ski-lift style chair." A rider's feet will also be dangling below. Kids need to be just 4 1/2 feet tall to ride.

The theme park opens daily on May 15th at 10:30 a.m. If bought online, tickets cost just $42 a person, but that does not include parking.

Six Flags Great America is located on I-94 and Grand Avenue. The theme park is open until the middle of September.
