A Davenport man is accused of marrying in March without first divorcing his previous wife.

George Allen Woods III, 43, of Davenport, was charged May 2, 2013 with one count of bigamy after police were sent to a reported domestic argument at Woods’ home that day.

Woods was reportedly fighting with a woman he married in March 2013.  Police said the argument stemmed from the discovery that Woods had been served with divorce papers but that divorce from his previous wife was not yet final.

Jail records show Woods was arrested Friday, May 3.  He spent just under three hours in the Scott County Jail before he posted $1,000 bond and was released.

Court records show Woods was appointed a public defender and expected back in court June 6.
