Two teens were arrested in connection with a rash of home and car break-ins in Altona, Illinois.

Altona has fewer than 600 residents.  The Knox County Sheriff’s Department reported taking  30 burglary reports in the town in one weekend in December 2012.

In all but two of the cases, doors had been left unlocked.

Police said they arrested Jamar Whiteside-Banks, 18, of Galva, Illinois and Brandon Kenney, 18, of Galesburg in connection with the crimes.  Both teens were expected to face multiple counts of residential burglary, burglary to motor vehicle and theft.

Police said burglaries reported in Henderson, Illinois were also connected to the two arrested teens.

Whiteside-Banks and Kenney were held in the Knox County Jail in lieu of $250,000 bond each.

Police said more arrests were possible in the case.
